Police Media Releases - Yesterday Please be advised that police have now cleared the scene at 5685 Leeds Street and nothing suspicious has been located.Traffic in the area has been reopened to vehicles and pedestrians and people have been allowed back into the campus.Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are continuing the investigation into this matter.
Responding officers subsequently shut down vehicle and pedestrian traffic on Spring Garden Road and surrounding streets temporarily.
Officers with the Explosive Disposal Unit attended the scene and determined there was no threat.
The package was determined to be garbage and all streets have been re-opened to traffic.
16-143681 Police Reports - Yesterday Halifax Regional Police were called to the area of Almon Street and Windsor Street in relation to a report of an injured woman screaming from a car to call police. on September 20, 2016, officers located the vehicle in the area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
The driver refused to stop and attempted to flee from police heading eastbound across the peninsula.
The driver attempted to evade police for 2.6 kilometers before he was arrested in the area of the 100 block of Connor Lane.
There were no injuries reported and no damage to any of the involved vehicles in this incident.
The woman in the vehicle, who is known to the accused, declined EHS at the scene and suffered minor facial injuries from an assault.
A 40-year-old Halifax man is currently in custody at Police Headquarters and will be transferred to court sometime today to face charges of assault, forcible confinement, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, violation of probation and flee police.

Just after 8 a.m., police responded to the Nova Scotia Community College - Institute of Technology campus located at 5685 Leeds Street for a bomb threat after the campus received a threatening message from an anonymous person.
