When it comes to Star Wars inspired rip offs, Starcrash will always be my favorite! (Never going to happen) I never connected Rocket and Groot with Han and Chewie, although I suppose it makes sense.
This Sci-Fi action film was directed by Empire Pictures founder Charles Band (Parasite, Trancers) and also features his Trancers star Tim Thomerson (Near Dark, Fade to Black). I've had chances to see it in 2D but I want to see it in 3D. So, I'm not sure how likely we are to see a BD3D edition. so I guess this leaves: Parasite Treasure of the Four Crowns Space Hunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (is this the one with Over Dog, played by Michael Ironside? It Came From Outer Space in 3D is getting released sometime this year by Panamint in the UK.
hopefully it will get a nice scan and restoration if needed. So how many of the 3D 1980's movies are left to make? It was originally going to be Region B only, but I now believe there is a possibility that it may get released in the U. I also saw this in the theater as a kid, though I can't remember anything about it... Also about other 80s films, there's also Friday the 13th pt 3 - there is no "true" 3D version on blu-ray, correct?
Honestly this made my day, just relaxing with a glass of wine after a long day and I laughed when I saw this..
I never saw it as a kid (did see Jaws 3D at a now defunct Cineplex "now a Party City franchise" in Brampton, ON) but just one of a string of 3D flicks that ran theaters in the early 80's.
Because of all the Star Wars hype lately, they might be making a reboot of the Last Starfighter and the animated movie Starchaser:the legend of Orin into live action movie as well as a live action version of Heavy metal.
Personally, I had enough of those movies when they came out but fortunately for mankind my tastes don't always prevail.
Here is the fan-made trailer for a new "The Last Starfighter" (which will probably never be made).
The Han/Chewie relationship of Rocket and Groot was pretty obvious, in my opinion.
Scream Factory has announced that it will bring to Blu-ray Charles Band's film Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn (1983), starring Richard Moll, Kelly Preston, Tim Thomerson, Michael Preston, and Jeffrey Byron.
